Are The Bitdefender Service Failure Problem And The Windows Bluescreen/Stopcode Problem Connected?

I have been having some trouble with Windows bluescreen and Stopcodes. One of the solutions involves uninstalling third party virus software. I have been reluctant to do so and just hoping the problem will go away. Today, my laptop "hung" as is has done on 2 previous bluescreen occasions, but this time I received a Bitdefender Service Failure message due to "software failure". It said automatic recovery will start. I clicked on Submit Info to send debugging info. My screen reverted to one with enlarged icons on the menu bar and I was able to Sign Out and Restart. My question: Are the Service Failure problem and the bluescreen/Stopcode problem connected?
