Unable To Install Bitdefender On Second Computer. Any Suggestions?

Answers

  • Hello @Kenneth Burr and welcome to the Community!

Please let us know if you have followed the instructions from this article to install protection on another device:

First, make sure the computer meets the minimal requirements for installing Bitdefender:

Operating System: Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11

    Memory (RAM): 2 GB

Available free hard disk space: 2.5 GB free space

    * System performance may be affected on devices that have old generation CPUs.

If the installation failed, check if there are any other security solutions installed on that device.

This will usually return an error message. Another possible error message that can be encountered is "Downloading one of the installation files failed". When this happens during the Bitdefender installation - "Some installation files are corrupted" OR "There was a problem downloading one of the installation files", please make sure that an internet connection is available and try again. This means that the kit wasn't downloaded completely. Click the Retry button from the error message.

Also, in the event the installation does not start / Installation window disappears without displaying an error message, make sure to log on the device using an Administrator account, then try again to install Bitdefender.

These are some of the possible reasons behind an install issue, but more information is required to identify the main root cause.

  • Thats the message I get. Internet connection is fine though..what should I do

  • Hello @Lunnay1,

    Which message do you get?

    a) Some installation files are corrupted

    b) There was a problem downloading one of the installation files

If you get error b) however your internet connection seems to be working properly, try to connect to a different network, if possible, and proceed to install Bitdefender on that device again. If this doesn't work and the error persists, and if you have already rebooted that device, generate a Support Tool on your Windows device and send it to the Bitdefender Support teams for further investigation. Here's the complete guideline on what to do next:

Follow the steps from the second option, "Generate a support tool log when Bitdefender is not installed".

In this article you will also find instructions on how to get in touch with the Support teams to forward the logs.

Let us know how it goes.
