Another question about browsers

So....Microsoft Edge wants me to sign in using my outlook email (to sync), and it won't allow me to use the adblocker, Ublock Origin, unless I'm signed in....this kind of defeats the efforts to get privacy.

Which will give me more privacy? To sign in and use the adblocker, or to use the browser without being synced (but I've got VPN either way)? I'm not even going anywhere questionable. 😆

Is Google Chrome better? Is it the safest to use with gmail and Ublock Orgin? Gmail has a new protection feature, but I don't fully understand what it does...

Any help would be welcome.

It is not necessary to sign into microsoft edge via microsoft account. Without it also you can install ublock extension.

Try the below things. Run cmd as administrator and type below commands one by one which will reset your microsoft edge completely.

taskkill /F /IM "msedge.exe"

rd /s /q "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default"

rd /s /q "%AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default"

Afterwards, try going directly to below stated link and installing ublock origin on microsoft edge

Run cmd as administrator: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-r2-and-2012/jj717276(v=ws.11)

After you open cmd as administrator, copy and run below commands in bold one by one and press enter after each command

taskkill /F /IM "msedge.exe" (if microsoft edge is running, the command will forcefully terminate the process)

rd /s /q "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default" (the command is used to delete the user data folder for the microsoft edge browser on a windows system)

rd /s /q "%AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default" (the command will delete the user data folder associated with the default profile in microsoft edge)

Afterwards, try going directly to below stated link and installing ublock origin on microsoft edge
