My bit defender auto update keeps switching itself off.

I have to use a password to switch it on again every time I restart my computer

Do I have a malware problem ?

    Hi @Racy2U

First, if you password-protected the App, disable it. Then In Bitdefender on the left-hand side, Utilities/Profiles settings, do you have Automatic Profiles enabled, or one of them activated manually? If so, that will change the frequency of the updates. If you do, disable it, go back into Settings/Update and confirm that the Update time interval is set to where you want it, as sometimes Profiles will leave it at the longer time length even after it's been disabled. Then if desired, password-protect Bitdefender again. @Gjoksi thank you for compiling the below times for us :)

When Work profile is enabled, update check interval is automatically set to 8 (eight) hours.

When Movie profile is enabled, update check interval is automatically set to 8 (eight) hours.

When Game profile is enabled, update check interval is automatically set to 12 (twelve) hours.

When Public Wi-Fi profile is enabled, update check interval is automatically set to 1 (one) hour.

When Battery Mode profile is enabled, update check interval is automatically set to 1 (one) hour.

If that was not the issue (Profiles) try running a repair, and see if that resolves it for you.

    Kind regards,

    Scott

    You're welcome @Racy2U :)

Now, just go back into Settings/Update and make sure it's set to automatic, then set to the hour interval you want. Then you can confirm it's updating by checking the Notifications window after that time period.

If you want to enable a Profile manually, then just go back and turn it off when you're done, and re-check the update settings.
