Using Ultimate (VPN?) or Web Protection

I have a BD Ultimate subscription and have learned that when using VPN, I cannot use Web Protection … they are incompatible. What are the typical activities that are appropriate for either tool? It seems I have to manually change my settings for best protection based on my activity at the time.

Let’s say a scammer offers a link to a cloned look-a-like site, intending to gather my personal data. If I have stupidly clicked his link, can BD Ultimate protect me at the outset from my own stupidity?

    Web Protection and VPN are two different tools that can be used to protect your online security, but they are not compatible with each other. Web Protection scans the websites you visit for known threats and blocks them if necessary. VPN encrypts your traffic and routes it through a remote server, making it more difficult for third parties to track your online activity.

    Here are some examples of activities that are appropriate for each tool:

    1) Web Protection: Browsing the web, online shopping, banking online, checking email, using social media.

    2) VPN: Using public Wi-Fi networks, accessing content that is geo-blocked, protecting your privacy online.

    If you are using a VPN, you will need to disable Web Protection in order to use it. However, you can still use other features of Bitdefender Ultimate, such as Malware Protection and Ransomware Protection, while using a VPN.

    If you accidentally click on a malicious link, Bitdefender Ultimate can still help protect you. Even if Web Protection is not enabled, Bitdefender Ultimate's other features can still help protect you from infection.
