    Hello guys :)

I have analyzed those logs and I have a final conclusion: you have .upd files in the installation folder. In the current situation, those files are in pending and they will replace some Bitdefender files with newer versions.

This can only be done during startup(when Windows is loading).

    We are currently investigating this.

I can provide you a workaround for the current situation: just restart your machine a few times and the issue should be solved.

    Thank you.

  • Hello

A patch was delivered via Automatic Updates. This will solve the current situation after the first restart.

Thank you very much for your time and Happy Holidays!

I am having the same issue. I am unable to enable the on-access scanning. I ran the update but it keeps telling me to restart the computer to finish. I restart and the issue remains. I keep doing the update and restart but not getting anywhere.

I tried the tool a few times and the first couple times it did not finish. This morning I tried to run it and it keeps crashing.

  • Hello

Could you please run it in Safe Mode?

    Thank you.

  • I've had a similar problem to the above: on-access scanning is disabled and the problem has survived several update/reboots. I ran the support tool and PM'd the support tool log to you.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    Hi :)

    Welcome to our forums.

I have looked over the logs and you don't have the latest build available on our servers.

In the current situation, please repair the product and manually update it after the reboot.

  • I am having the same problem as well. On Access Scanning is disabled. I have rebooted numerous times and still the same. I have tried to do the "repair", but nothing happens when I click it. I am on Win7 x64 as well.

If I go to add/remove programs, I only get an option to uninstall BitDefender. If I try, nothing happens. If I try to run set up again, it says it needs to uninstall the current version, I click OK, but nothing happens.

    Looking for help.

    Thanks!

  • I repaired and restarted, then updated and restarted a couple of times, but the issue still isn't fixed. I went ahead and created another Support Tool log and sent it by PM.

    Thanks again!

    Hello

This issue has been solved via Automatic Updates. A patch is delivered after the build update( http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=131129 ). Make sure that you have the latest build installed.

    Thank you.

  • The issue has not been solved unfortunately. I have updated and updated and updated the bitdefender internet security 2012 that I have to no avail. I have even done a repair and updated and restarted several times. I have also uninstalled and installed and then updated and restarted. I have read nearly every post on the issue.

My computer is not protected. The on-access scan has an issue. My guess is that you rebuild the system or release a downloadable patch specifically for this problem cos right now, I'm frustrated out of options.

    My build is 15.0.35.1486.

My laptop is a windows 7 running on a x64 machine. I'm guessing that might be the common denominator in all the issues listed.

    Please help

    Hi solid

    Welcome to our forums.

In your case, the issue could be generated by the fact that you don't have Service Pack 1 installed on the machine.

Please check the system requirements here:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/total...%20Requirements

Install Service Pack 1, reboot, repair again the product and let me know if that issue is still reproducing.

  • Good morning Christian,

This issue is also not fixed for me either - in this case I am running XP Professional with SP 3 so seem to meet all the required system requirements. Like Solid's post on 15th, I have also tried all the suggested ways to remove this problem.

    Hello everyone

I have a temporary solution for this issue.

Please follow the steps from below:

    1. Restart in Safe Mode with Networking.

[How to restart in SAFE MODE With Networking]

    - Restart the computer;

    - Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;

    - Select "SAFE MODE With Networking"

    2. Download and save this patch on your desktop.

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge.../patch_0036.exe

    3. Run it (for Windows Vista/7, right click on it and choose Run as administrator).

    4. Wait for the process to finish.

    5. Restart in Normal Mode.

Let me know if you still receive that warning message in the main interface.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks Christian,

That seems to clear this one!

    Two things:

After running the patch I needed a couple of restarts before it worked.

There was a file (desktop.ini) left in folder

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

    with contents:

    [.ShellClassInfo]

    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

which of course opened in Notepad on subsequent start ups - is that left over from the patch run in safe mode? I just removed it from the Startup folder and all was OK.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hello :)

    Thank you for your feedback.

For Windows XP, please use the Fixit solution from this KB article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330132

For Vista/7 use the manual steps from the same link.

    Thank you.
