Win Xp Scan Disk Wont Run

Hi,

I recently upgradd to Bitdefender antivirus plus 2013. Prior to upgrading I ran scan disk successfully.

It been a week or 2 since I upgraded and I tried to run scan disk and could not. I have not instaled any other applications in the interim.

It seems like since installing Bitdefender plus 2013 my laptop will not run scan disk. I have schedule a job and when the machine reboots it tries to run but the screen reads 'Can not open volume for direct access. windows has finished checking the disk." and since it isnt completing a job now every time on reboot it shows this screen.

Is Bitdefender accessing the disk to cause this?

Please advise.

Happy trails, Mike Foate

OS= Win XP service pack 3

    Just an update.

My first post and issues w/ regard to scandisk was w/ regard to my wife's laptop with btav plus 2013. I have since discovered that I have the same scan disk issue on my tower workstation that was upgraded the same day as my wife's laptop wth btav plus 2013. So it seems logical that the issue is btav plus 2013.

    Please advise.

    Is anyone home?

We realize you may not miss a couple of subscribers like myself and my wife if we move to a competing av product however, this does seem like a very awful way to treat subscribers like us who have had this product for many years now. :(

  • Capt. Mike,

I have exactly the same problem. Chkdsk doesn't work on boot time. I restored my c-drive where build 1534 was installed, and found that Chkdsk worked on boot time. However, after updating build 1534 to build 1637, chkdsk will not run again. I wait for a new build, rather than repair the software.

Today on my workstation I was able to get scandisk to work after doing the bt repair function. I will boot up tomorrow to see if it holds. If it does I will try the bt repair on my wife's laptop tomorrow.

    Thanks, Mike
