I can't believe this. You've had the fix ready for 20 days and you still haven't released it. I've had enough of my computer booting for 3 minutes. I am uninstalling BitDefender and this will be the first and the last time I bought the license.

    very disappointing.

  • This is getting ridiculous. When is there going to be fix for this?

    Hello all,

An update on the internal work: you can expect a product update for this in mid-November.

It took longer than expected to address the issue because we had to modify the way Bitdefender on-access scan and engines function.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • Thank you for letting us know Georgia, good news. :)

Im having the same issue on my Asus G750JX , im using the demo version of bitdefender i like it but this black screen take 3:42 minutes to boot my pc <img class=" /> it's too much long for me and i use my laptop on college so i hope they will release a new update to bitdefender

They promised a patch for the middle of this month so it is hopefully not too far away. :)

  • If 18.19.0.1345 is supposed to be the fix, it doesn't work. Still 3 minutes of black screen and occasional system freeze.

  • Until Christian posts the update details we don't know if this is the one to have fixed the boot delay problem, which I agree it doesn't.

One of Windows 8/8.1 best liked features is the fast start and shutdown. Since BD is advertised as fully compatible with Win 8/8.1, I never expected it to cripple any Windows feature especially the fast start. Starting my brand new desktop computer with BD takes me back to the days of Windows 3.1!

  • The solution for the black screen at boot is now available in the latest build number 18.19.0.1345.

Open Bitdefender and go to Protection -> Antivirus -> Shield tab -> Modify -> Miscellaneous tab -> uncheck: Early boot scan -> click OK to confirm

    A Windows restart is required.

It works!!! Thank you, thank you! :)

Georgia/Christian - will BD 2014 be updated to fix the problem as well?

  • It has resolved the problem for me with my Win 7 machine, thanks Bitdefender team. :)

It does seem that the Windows logo during loading seems to be on screen for a little longer than before, but I may be imagining that.

im using the trial version 18.17.0.1227 and i can't get the last update so how can you prove to me that it will work for me i won't pay for a software that my trial version doesn't work correctly

  • Yes you can. It will download along with malware database updates. Then you will be prompted to restart for the update.

Anyhow that isn't a great 'fix' as it reduces the protection available supposedly paid for by us users. Given the choice of hobbling a product to gain back 30 seconds of my day I'll leave well alone.

What would be more interesting is a memory usage about turn...

The word 'Modify' should say 'Custom' and pressing the 'Default' button should re-enable Early boot scan, but it does not.

    Just a suggestion

  • Now that we know what was causing the delay is there not some merit in keeping early boot scan?

If thats the case then Ill just pass..... I can live with the delay than limit my protection

    anyway ty Georgia

You don't have to turn off the early boot scan, it's your choice, so you should still run the update. :)

    Ro.

  • I've deactivated early boot scan and boot time is over three minutes, boot with 2015 is horrible, maybe i've to downgrade to 2014 or 2013.

  • I've downgraded to 2014, i've windows 7 x64 and boot time is much better now.

I have applied the fix, and I am getting worse delays than ever before. Which is attested by the bootracer service I am applying to know how long it takes to reach the desktop !!!

Does anybody else have any feedback on the results of this "fix". I'm still on BD 2014 AV+ and am wondering if going up to 2015 will improve the startup

(which is bad in 2014 as well).

    Hiya,

It has improved the start-up times with my Win 7 desktop, not tried it on my Win 8.1 machines as I don't have a problem with those. Upgrading to 2015 is always a good idea as it brings a few improvements, such as being able to completely turn off Wallet. :)
