(It may not make any difference if the hacker's claim of still having access is true, but it probably wouldn't hurt to change your MyBitdefender password....)

  • It appears this has effected a small number of their SMB customers, who have already had their passwords changed. So, as a home user I will sit tight unless I hear to the contrary from Bitdefender.

  • Well, unencrypted user passwords are really disturbing to me.


    Was this "just a mistake" or Bitdefenders default behavior?

    I've looked high and low for an official Bitdefender statement and have not found it. Contrast this to how Kaspersky handled it's recent hacking - https://blog.kaspersky.com/kaspersky-statement-duqu-attack/


    Bitdefender's silence on this as well as no immediate response to the recent trouble with the BDIS 'Windows 10 update' that caused the firewall component to cut off internet access is quite troubling.

    I'm absolutely with you in this point. I was thinking the same and I was impressed by the way how Kaspersky handled it.


    I'm afraid Bitdefender has a different strategy. Be quiet and sit it out. This creates no confidence..
