Portscan attacks

Options

Hello everyone. I got a laptop for class and installed Bitdefender IS 2017 on it. It was fine, but ever since I've started attending class, I am getting a few port scans alerts on my bitdefender notifications everyday. Although the notification says that it has blocked the attacks, should I still be worried? Is there anything else I need to do to prevent these attacks?

    Hello,

If the product blocked the scans, there is no need to worry.

You could also see from where the scans come from. There are some old routers and printers that generate port scans.

  • you can manually close the unnecessary open ports.

I use for security reason the nmap.exe CLI for discover and verify all my WAN open ports (usually the open ports 53 and 80 are very enough for many kinds of internet connections).

    nmap.exe -A -v -p1-65535 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(my IP)

and my bitdefender is very silent (no notifications for this operation).
