    Hi,


    Straightforward UPnP is not secure because the router opens ports without the users knowledge and this is the main reason why it was not implemented in BOX so far. At the moment we are looking for safe ways of implementations and for sure we will have it available in a future update.

    RichC i would never enable UPNP on a firewall  a Virus, Trojan horse, worm, or other malicious program that manages to infect a computer on your local network can use UPnP just like a legit program.  Normally a firewall will block this but UPNP will allow the virus to bypass the firewall. UPNP thinks the app or program is trustworthy and allows the connection to happen.

    Thanks for the info.  Some devices require UPnP and won’t function properly without it.  Unfortunately I have a device that requires UPnP and it does not function properly using the Box as the DHCP server/gateway.  Hopefully it becomes an option in the future that can be enabled or disabled
