Error 1004


Bitdefender could not connect to proxy or update server configured. Please check your internet connection and try again.


What does this mean?  Does it mean I'm not getting any updates?

    • Partner has updated to BitDefender version 6

    • When updating definitions, the following is shown in the ManagedAntiVirus.log:

      • 2018-09-20 08:16:29.7705 19- DEBUG: OnProductEvent=> Name: Update.Finished

        2018-09-20 08:16:29.7705 19- DEBUG: OnProductEvent=> Json: {"error_code":-1004}

        2018-09-20 08:16:29.7705 18- TRACE: BitDefender OnFinished Event: -1004

        2018-09-20 08:16:29.7705 18- TRACE: A def/engine update has completed.

        2018-09-20 08:16:29.7705 18- TRACE: It Failed! Setting the last failure date.





    Environment




    • SolarWinds RMM

    • Managed Anti-Virus - BitDefender





    Solution




    • The -1004 error stands for "Could not connect to Proxy or Server" or on the BitDefender Engine - File and Definition Update Servers. 

    • BitDefender version 6 uses new URLs to download definitions

    • To resolve, please whitelist the following domains over port 80 and 443:

      • *.remote.management

      • *.logicnow.us

      • *.cdn-sw.net

      • *.bitdefender.net

      • *.bitdefender.com

      • *.v1.bdnsrt.org


     


    THIS IS WHAT I WAS ABLE TO FIND ABOUT THIS ISSUE.... hope it helps... if not then remove the changes you make to your firewalls 



  • Thanks BD. looks like you put some effort into finding all that.  I also started to notice that some settings would not apply.  I could set them, but they would be changed back when I looked again.  I reinstalled everything and all is good now.  thanks again.
