Facebook Messenger Not Connecting

Messenger did have an update but I was also having this issue before it was updated. To my knowledge no other apps are having connectivity issues. Just to confirm said issue: I now cannot connect Messenger to the internet--neither by Wifi nor mobile data. Is there something within the app that can prohibit an apps access to the internet if it deems said app as potentially threatening if connected to the internet? \n\nAlso, second reason I came here first is because the track record of Facebook Support is a very slow, arduous one unless I'm being sent to FB jail for the weekend because of someone's delicate sensitivities being gently pummeled.\n\nAny input regarding the above situation is greatly appreciated.\n"}]
