Never ending System Scans

in Bitdefender 2010 products

Bitdefender starts an External Drive Scan and before that one finishes starts another. I had about 12 going at the same time. Every time I Stop one and Close it another one pops up and starts. How can I get these to end and only scan at the scheduled time?

    Revise that - it starts an External Drive Scan and a Quick Scan at about the same time and before those finish starts new scans.
