channel5.com
Hi
I have just changed my antivirus to bitdefender total security and since doing so I cannot access channel5.com. I keep getting APP-1001 message. Channel 5 says this usually occurs if trying to access the site from another country or if I'm using a VPN.
I am in the UK and I don't have the VPN activated. I have even been into running programs and shut down the bitdender vpn app and service but still keep getting this.
I can access this on my wifes laptop which is running a different antivirus which is Norton supplied by her bank.
Any Ideas.

Hello @mikey120957 and welcome to the Community!
The first step would be to find out which Bitdefender module is blocking the connection. Do you receive any notification regarding this? Try the following: disable each security module one by one and try to access the page after each deactivation. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the article below:
Depending on the culprit, there can be multiple solutions to tackle this, such as adding an exception or a rule, but first we need to find the root cause. An example of website blocking and the fix can be found here:
Let us know how it goes.

Hello.
I can access the site from North Macedonia with no VPN program installed on my laptop.
I think you better contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by chat, telephone or e-mail:

@Alexandru_BD - weird, because I am also unable to surf the website despite disabling the services of bitdefender.
To me it seems like a geographical block in INDIA. But for the post creator (@mikey120957), it seems like the issue maybe with bitdefender since he is able to surf on another laptop having norton installed.

Guys, i forgot to mention that the website works fine for me, even when ALL services of Bitdefender are enabled.
So, for me, to assume: all Bitdefender services (modules) enabled, VPN not installed (meaning Bitdefender VPN is uninstalled) and the site works perfectly...
Hope these informations will help you.
Regards.

It worked fine for me too, on my Windows 11 laptop with all of the BD Total services running, except VPN, which is disabled. Central USA.

Hi guys.
Thanks for all the helpful comments.
I figured it out.
I reset all my settings for chrome and it is working.
I have noticed bitdefender put an extension in chrome so I didn't reinstall that extension and it's all working as before.
Thanks again.

That's good news, @mikey120957
Would you share which extension you didn't reinstall, BD Anti-tracker? It may help us in the future to troubleshoot for others on the forum.
Thanks 😊

That's exactly what it was. I cleared Chrome's cache etc., enabled Anti-tracker, and got the same unavailable screen. I disabled Anti-tracker, and no problem in viewing the webpage.

And when I logged onto the website previously, my Anti-tracker was disabled, so it didn't cause any problem viewing the webpage.

It was BD anti tracker that had been installed but it wasn't activated. I dont know if some of it was running in the back ground. But when i didn't install it all worked fine. I dont want to re install it to check if it was the problem just happy its working.

Thanks for posting back.
Yes, I agree, just leave it alone. If it's now not broken, don't try to fix it 😊😊

I figured out that my adblocker and privacy extension were blocking the website from opening. After disabling the extension, I was able to open the website.

Had the same problem, and resetting chrome did the trick. Thank you.
