Recent Update (August 2022) is back to constantly using 100%+ CPU
I've had nothing but problems with BitDefender using insane amounts of resources on my M1 MBP, but it's required for work so I haven't had another choice.
For the past month or so, the problems had mostly gone away, but after a recent update this month it's back to routinely pegging a CPU core at 100% (or even hitting almost 200% on multiple cores) after waking from sleep. The only fix I've found is to reboot, so I'm stuck rebooting my laptop multiple times a day to keep it from draining battery.
How do I even go about diagnosing this? It seems pretty easy to reproduce, just have an M1 MBP and use it.

Hello.
First, take screenshot(s) of the issue
and create a log file on your MacOS device using BDProfiler, by following these steps:
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1863/
Next, contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by e-mail:
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/
(select "How to's & Troubleshooting Bitdefender products")
with short description of the issue.
After that, you will get an automated reply by the Bitdefender Customer Care Team, with your ticket number.
Now, in reply to that automated reply, you can send the screenshot(s) you already took and the log file you already created in the first step.
Since you are all done, just wait for the support engineers to investigate your issue and find a solution to fix the issue.
Remember that the screenshot(s) and the log file will help a lot to the support engineers for better and faster investigation on your issue and finding a solution.
Regards.

@mlmcmillion same issue here. Seems to spin up to 100% almost every 30mins.

Yeah I don't think this issue is the same as the full scan after boot. This just seems to be like a slow memory leak over the course of the day except it's spinning up threads and using CPU.

Do we know if this issue is even being looked at by support?

I have a Sony Experia 10inch tablet with Anroid 7.1.1.
Since installing Bitdefender my tablet is regularly completely drained of all charge.
As an experiment today, I charged to 100% overnight then turned the device on this morning, but did not use.
I suppose on standby would be the term.
Turned on at 10.00
Checked at 12.00 charge was 77%
Help please

I'm having the same issue. Was not able to do anything on the PC, since CPU 100%. Uninstalled and probably won't be renewing given the recent issues and price gouging.
Windows10 fresh install
Uninstalling removed the 95-100% CPU load issue of bitdefender
No issues running the VPN.
The problem only arose after the new bitdefender update.
