Updates Taking a Very Long Time to Complete

  • I know there are two subsequent updates scheduled to be rolled out soon and I expect these to fix this issue for good.

    And now updates get stuck at 80% then fail. Come on guys work this out!

    Obviously. The problem is not on my end as my internet connection is up and running full speed. It's (another) bug in your software which is why I'm reporting it here.

    I did not meant something is wrong with your setup. The download can fail for various reasons.

    There were two different error codes, 1020 and 1022. Again my internet connection was functioning perfectly as I was also streaming video at the time.

    The error code 1022 indicates that the server response is not valid and is related to improper internet connection settings.
    Restart the router, then reboot your computer and check if Bitdefender can perform successful updates.

    If the errors persist, try changing the DNS settings on Windows.

    Here are some steps you can try that usually stop any other update errors on Windows:

    - Try to update again at a later time.
    - Restart the PC then check if the update succeeds.
    - Connect the PC to another network:

    A. If the updates are successful on other networks, the issue is with the default network configuration. Try changing the DNS and disabling 3rd party firewall programs.

    B. If the update errors persist on other networks as well, uninstall and reinstall Bitdefender.

    If Bitdefender still fails to perform updates, contact Bitdefender support.

  • To add here, open CMD (Command Prompt) as admin and copy-paste the commands below one by one, then press Enter.

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    netsh int ip reset all

    The above commands will reset your IP and flush your DNS.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with my internet connection, my router, my DNS or anything. I use the connection all day long every day for many different tasks including business and dozens of software titles. The only problem I have is with Bitdefender Total Security. It's an intermittent issue with BDTS itself which I can say as someone who has been a private beta tester for many software companies including BD at one point. Update hasn't failed in three days so I'll just live with it until it's time to renew my license.
