Windows Defender Real-Time Protection and Bitdefender

Hi there!

I work home-office, and in order to stay organized, I've created a new account in my device only for work-related tasks. I am currently using Bitdefender, however my company requires that I use Windows Defender for business in my device with Real-Time Protection turned on.

Which features can I disable on Bitdefender in order for me to turn on Windows Defender Real-Time Protection but still continue on using Bitdefender?

If you manage to answer me this, would that also affect my other user (my other account, personal on my device)?

Thanks in advance!

You cannot enable Windows Defender Real-Time Protection without completely uninstalling the Bitdefender product. There is no alternative in this case. However, if you wish to use Windows Defender alongside Bitdefender, you can enable the periodic scanning feature in Windows Defender. More information is available in the link stated below.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no workaround in this scenario. Bitdefender must disable Windows Defender services for it to work, because they cannot work simultaneously and this is generally not recommended anyway. Having two or more security solutions installed at the same time can have a negative impact on your computer. The symptoms may include but are not limited to degraded performance, system crashes, and software errors. Also, during the setup, Bitdefender identifies other security products that were previously installed. To ensure these different security solutions will not cause difficulties, you will be advised to uninstall them.

I think there are really two options here. Either the company you work for does the research and raises its security standards by accepting the use of Bitdefender as the reputable and trusted security solution it is, or Bitdefender is uninstalled from the respective device in order to comply with their requirements..
