Really A Crap Programme

Really a crap program!!!

I am a network administrator and I’ve been working in computing for nearly 20 years. I have to say that I had never seen such a crap program like Bitdefender Internet security 2011.

First of all, the installation process is a real pain, it is really slow and gives no indication about what it is doing (is it running, has it hanged, at what stage it is…).

After a slow installation process then the program start making an update which is rather long and again with no progress indication whatsoever!!!

But the worst is when the program starts. Then, it slow down the computer in such way that the system nearly does not respond anymore.

I have installed it on different computers running various systems (XP, Vista, Seven) and on all of them it was the same (extreme slow down). It’s a shame to see such a bad quality program and the only one thing good to do with it is to get a refund and never use it again.

Many of the slowdown issues discussed here have turned out to be conflicts with other security programs or the leftover remnants of other security programs that were not properly/completely uninstalled, as this user discovered: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=94660

Other causes have been PCs right at or below the minimum system requirements, incomplete installations and on rare occasions, conflicts with other device drivers. In any event, each PC would have to be trouble shot. Perhaps a few common scenarios will be found in the first couple of systems that will help diagnose the others.

If you want help, the techs here are very good and will be willing to help.

As you can see in my signature, I am running BD on 3 PCs with no slowdown issues and I needed no assistance installing BD on any of them. The program does work once you can find and eliminate the conflicts on the individual PC.

    Looking forward to helping you,

  • I tried to install BD on different computers with different systems ( Vista, XP, 7) and got always a serious slow down on all of them.

I have NO other realtime protection on those machines and some of them have the system just installed.

The problem occurs mainly when we go to Internet. Then the process vsserv.exe goes mad. It takes a lot of CPU usage and an awful amount of memory (sometime over 300 Mb of Ram !!!!). I have seen on this forum that a lot of people have the same problem and no real solution come out…

    Info333,

To be honest since the launch of BitDefender 2011 almost everyone dealing with PC slowdown including at startup was due to the multiple security solutions installed on the same computer.

I would suggest that you pick one PC experiencing the problem and follow the steps below to identify the problem. Because the steps start with disconnecting from the internet, don't be concerned that you have to re-create the problem (internet slowdown) before running the supporttool. The tool will capture the necessary information without having to re-create your problem.

    1. First please unplug the Internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adaptor if you are using one. This prevents the supporttools files from being automatically uploaded.

    2. Click on Start and then choose My Computer/Computer.

    3. Browse to:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011

    - considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition

    4. Double-click on the supporttool.exe file - if you are using Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the supporttool application file and select Run as Administrator

    5. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish

    6. A file will be created on your desktop. Please move it to a location of your choice (i.e. move it on your c:\ drive)

    7. Reconnect your internet cable (only after you have moved the file to the new location)

    8. Upload the created file HERE

    9. Include a detailed description of the issue you are encountering and a screenshot of the error message, if there is one.

    10. Send a PM (Private Message) with the download link to DanyDan of tech support. Reference this topic and give him as much detail as possible about this particular PC - exact symptoms, hardware (CPU type/speed, Memory installed, etc.), OS and version, 32-bit or 64-bit, any other security software installed or previously uninstalled. Any other relevant configuration information.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks but no. We have wasted enough time with it.

As I said in my previous post some computers having problems were just installed with new systems and no other software was set up. On top of this I went through the forum and internet and found that this slow down issue (vsserv.exe) is really common. So we’re going to go for another antivirus solution…

  • We're sorry to see you leave, but I understand that it certainly is your decision. :(

That's what brought me to BitDefender - I left 2 other major security software suppliers because of conflict type problems with my PCs.

    Wishing you success,
