Yes, Oracle, I know exactly what you mean. And if you go through the forum you will find many posts complaining about this support problem. Occasionally I have gotten lucky and had a support member, like DanyDan, stick with me and see something through to the end ... but not often. In the past I have complained bitterly…

The issues speak for themselves as related in this forum and they are present day issues. Many of them existed way back when I tried to install it originally. I just don't know what to do anymore. I know I'm going to be totally afraid to install this 2011 when it comes out ... in remembering what I went through when I…

Cris: The reason I wanted to check the Spyware Doctor log is because the full path was not exposed in the window. I had the window expanded. Catalin says there was nothing wrong with the site involved here so I'm really wondering what's going on. Spyware Doctor wrote back and told me to do a scan in Safe Mode with…
-
Cris: I wish I could but I go to the log folder and there is nothing in it. Catalin: Are you telling me that I don't have to turn off the UAC?
-
As to the Hidden Files found by Spyware Doctor, I don't know what I can tell you about them since I couldn't even Google to get some info on them. I will attach a screen shot of the Spyware Doctor finished scan screen so you can see them for yourself. Right now they are in quarantine. I am waiting to hear from tech support…

Thank you Cris. I removed all 4 of those files. But I'm still wondering where they came from and still wondering if this Trojan could have written some kind of ****** to hide itself and still be lurking somewhere. I just run my Spyware Doctor on demand, and with none of the intelliguard features enabled, because it…

I'm probably making a bigger mess than ever. I just right clicked on one of those files, went to 7-Zip, Add to Archive. It appeared to work fine but now where do I find that file????
-
I downloaded 7-Zip to use the last time I was asked to do this, but I didn't go through these archive steps shown in the link you included. I just transferred them to a file and then uploaded them.
-
Sorry Cris, I am going to have to have more detailed instructions on this business of archiving, upload on file sharing server, etc. I believe I did this once a long time ago but don't remember anymore.

On the scan results page, when I checked the option to quarantine it said it failed and there was no possible action. That real time alert popped up several times and then quit. I am attaching screen shot of items I found in quarantine. These items are all dated 5-14. This really has me puzzled. I did full scans with…

I did select on the scan result screen to quarantine this item and it also failed. I am attaching another screen shot of a pop up that keeps occurring.

I've just tested v2009 on my PC but I cannot reproduce this behavior. (this was on XP) What you can try is to temporarily disable the User Account Control in Vista and check whether the situation persists. Here's a small tutorial on how to do this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-windows-vista/ There's no…

I discovered something today. At about 1:30 this morning (4-10) I again reset my scan schedule. This time I made certain to verify that I had set the start date at 4-10 -- and then set the time for 5 PM. I came to my computer around 5:30 PM tonight and no scan had started. I opened the schedule tab and sure enough -- the…

I tried once more. I turned off scheduling, shut down BD, reopened it and reset scheduling to test and it did not open at run. I had this problem once before, long ago, and someone helped me fix it. It seemed like I had to download something but I don't remember anymore.
-
Schedule a test scan to start after 10 minutes and see exactly what happens. I went into schedule and selected NO. Then I restarted. After restart I opened the Deep Scan Schedule again and it had reset itself to Periodically to the same schedule I previously had. It did not do an auto scan. I really would like to get this…

I already did that. It didn't make a difference.

I can now access my virus scan options in advanced mode, but just realized my scheduled scans haven't been running. That being the case, I'm not certain if that warning triangle still appears indicating that a scan has never been done. I am going to manually do a deep scan right now to check on that, but what can I do to…

I haven't been on this forum for a very long time. I rolled back to v. 2009 and I guess that's when I quit posting or coming to read. For some reason I got an email from the forum because of a post that was made to a topic I had been subscribed to ages ago. I have no help to offer anyone. I am just so shocked that very…

I can remember the 2008 product, that would also leave a lot of orphaned entries in the registry , that even some of the registry cleaners would not find, but if they actually caused any major problems i can't say,but i would imagine that as long as all the main keys /values are removed, including the ones associated with…

I posted earlier for some help in the case that I uninstall BD completely and go with something else. I don't want BD causing problems with a new program. If I use BD's uninstaller and then find there are still items in the registry, is it safe to scan the registry for BD and delete anything I find before trying to install…
-
Users who still have problems after un/reinstalling BD might suffer lots of garbage left after uninstalling this proggy. Believe me it's quite a number of registry entries that are not swept off by the uninstall tool. Additionally major product updates put more new entries into registry and they might be left too. It's…

Hello L.o.D., We have sent you the procedure that should help you overcome this sittuation and replace the file that will solve this update issue . Thank you. I have the same problem with that "Repair" deal that AndreiRC has. I get no option to repair. You sent him the procedure but since there have been so many with this…

BD 2009 Antivirus, which has been working perfectly with Windows 7 for months, just forced me to re-boot. Following the re-boot BD was greyed out (and presumably non-functional) with a balloon message that my system is no longer protected until I download and install BD 2010 Antivirus. That is a very large download.…

Viscon: I just a thought I wanted to share. I mentioned how slow my boot up is ... Well, I'm wondering if BitDefender is becoming awfully invasive, like Norton used to be years ago. In addition to the way it slows down my system, every single time I have had to uninstall 2010, which is 5 times now, I've had to uninstall…

Nikilet: that's odd what's happening on your side. I checked updates today at 2:30 PM and got prompted with both, virus and product updates. Seems like all works here like it should. Boathouse: good to hear your problems are partially solved. Hopefully we'll be provided with a properly fixed update soon. Yes Viscon, it was…

Viscon: The workaround quite working for me. I can't figure that one out at all. I shut down around 2:30 a.m. and my last update was at 2:19. I booted around 2 p.m. today and clicked clicked Update Now. The box came up showing a signature update of 2700+ KB and the product update. I unselected the product update, clicked…

I sure can't figure out why it quit updating. After I un and reinstalled and blocked that major update it was working good and now all of a sudden this. I waited until around 5 p.m. and still no update since 2:19 this morning. I didn't get any errors but when the update box would come up it would have nothing in in except…

I may have a new problem now. I turned my computer off around 2:30 this morning. Rebooted around 2 pm today and clicked Update Now. At first the window opened showing a large signatures update (over 2700 KB) and the product update. I selected only the signature update and clicked OK. Perhaps 30 seconds later I checked to…

Nikilet, sorry for question but I didnt get what is UAC? Decided to check the forum once more before turning in and seen your post. UAC is User Account Control. In Vista, Start/Control Panel -- change it to classic View on the left and then click on User Accounts. There is an option there to turn User Account Control on or…

Chesda: How can you possibly have the courage to ask paying customers to wait a few weeks for problems like this to be fixed? We are talking about a security program here. John K said it best: "This is a system-critical utility." One can't afford to pay for this program, install it and then have it down for a few weeks…
