Hello Orphan, BitDefender is a complete security solution that will protect your machine using a real time protection engine against a wide range of malware types. By turning off UAC you are not opening yourself up to these types of threats because the security offered by BitDefender will still be present. Diana, I must…

Hello dannys, From what we have seen, this issue is caused by a file in BitDefender called "tasks_system.xml" that can get corrupted if you are running BitDefender and UAC in the same time on a Vista system. If you keep UAC disabled while running BitDefender you should not encounter this issue anymore. dannys, Please be…

What about the $100 I spent on this product to cover 3 PC's? I'd rather give them a chance to fix their issues than just flush $100. Also BitDefender has a much better detection database than like any AV, I know, I've looked. This product cought Trojans & viruses that Norton, McAfee, PC-Cillin & AVG all missed! Its just…

Thank you so much for your suggestion, Hemanth, I appreciate it. Unfortunately,I've tried both unintalling with that tool and from control panel , even system restored , nothing can solve this thing. I love BD and don't want to remove it, more suggestions? airy033, You love a program that crashes your computer?!?!?!? Guess…

My experience with BD 10 ,few years ago, was excellent.I was using BD 10 combined with SPI firewalls and the computer was impenetrable. At every 2 months i was doublechecking with all the top antiviruses (the ones in the independent tests ) ,none of them found active infections.I did not observed any bugs while using BD 10.…

Softwin created a very good antivirus engine, but when Softwin left the building, so to speak, in late '07/early '08, BitDefender went right into the toilet. Version 10 was the last decent/viable version of BitDefender. Everything since, has been little more than beta-ware and has been plagued with problems. On top of…

Orphan ,stop bashing BitDefender products ,come with constructive solutions. This is not a forum for whiners. Have a nice day! Sm3K3R, I think you had better have another look at this forum. This forum is full of whiners. complaining about their malfunctioning BitDefender products and how NO ONE is helping them with their…

seems like ive had nothing but problems with Bitdefender so far. heres the latest: my internet is REALLY slow. and most times it will tell me "address not found" and to check my network settings. tried resetting my router and nothing has changed except for the fact that installed this antivirus. any way around this?…

Nowhere did I say that I expect BidDefender to be charity. @all What I expect of BitDefender is that it behaves just like any antivirus/firewall software and that is that it not ceases to work after the so called license has expired. By doing that it putts the user in grave danger. It is entirely my decision to acquire a…

I am also looking for suggestions. Why not AVG? I stopped using Norton 360 after a series of BSoD (and reinstalling it twice). Now I have three outstanding issues with BitDefender and their support does not respond. I justed posted questions about all three on these forums. I am seriously thinking about switching all my…

Hello Orphan, After reading your link it was quite scary ,Had a Deja Vu with my own problems, But the most scaring was this was a YEAR ago , and the replies were the same as it is this year, mostly Uninstall/reinstall wished I read the forum then... It seems the new versions Bitdefender put out are only ready for prime time…

Ummm, Why not just admit the truth? YOUR SITE AND YOUR ALL OF YOUR SERVERS WERE HACKED!!! Even though I no longer use your products, I too, was affected by the malicious handy work of DESPOTIC because I clicked on a hijacked posting on this site. It's a shame that your alleged security software can't even protect your own…

Cris posted: @Orphan: You have made your point, AGAIN, that bla-bla-bla works fine on your PC. Congrats, and keep using them. Nobody stops you to do that. But, just out of curiosity: have you bothered to check the forums of those products? I guess not, because they worked to you (as I said above... users with no problems…

Dear Buzzard, A possible cause for this kind of behaviour is a damaged windows installer on your computer. If the windows installer send instructions to the wrong msi installer package than such behaviour can occur. That isn't the uninstaller fault. You may use a search engine you aren't going to find any reported problems…

Umm... I somehow think that Connie1947's post was just a wee bit facetious. Did anyone else happen to notice that Connie1947 was talking about the BD "ON LINE" scanner?!?!? Cheers Orphan

I'd love to add my 2cents by answering this question! Firstly your correct in saying nobodies perfect....however when it comes to computer security, the developers needed to leave it in beta much longer..... BDIS 2008 is one HUGE mistake. The phone support is MORE than lacking! The online chat box support ..! Having to…

Update... Just want to let everyone know that while many folks here continue to find solutions for problems and bugs in BD v.11, AntiVir PE Premium has performed flawlessly on my Vista Home Premium 32-bit machine. I have had ZERO need to contact the company and ZERO need to use their Help forum. AniVir gets along very well…

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I need some help. I just purchased the BitDefender Antivirus 2008 and when I tried to download it said it "is not a "valid Win32 application"... What should I do? My guess is that you inadvertently downloaded the 64-bit version. Delete the 64-bit version and try…

MORE OBSERVATIONS.... Hi all, I just wanted to touch base and let you know that all of the finger-pointing and disparaging remarks made by volunteers and various posters about VISTA, made me very curious. Could VISTA really be that bad? As stated in my last post, I have been trialing Alwil Avast (FREE version) and I'd like…

Exeperience may be a lot different, but v10 and v11 not working... hope you never get infected with your new perfect working Antivirus Program. Ah security forum on-line are full of people infected, i suggest you don't ask what antivirus they use. Dear Pk77, You sound like a little kid with a chip on your shoulder! I am a…

Hello ejames82, What Orphan said is correct: Vista's User Account Control might prevent BD Online Scan to have Admin rights (ONLY on Windows Vista). @Orphan: BitDefender online scan is an ActiveX component, for Internet Explorer. It's not a separate application. Do you know how to give it admin rights (since I don't think…

SIMPLE FACTS FACT- I have a brand new computer that was functioning perfectly prior to the installation of BitDefender. FACT- I purchased and installed BitDefender Internet Security v10 and it failed to function properly. FACT- I upgraded to BitDefender Internet Security v11 and it failed to function properly. FACT- I…

when i attempted to use bitdefender on-line scan, i received the following message: failed to load interface you must have administrative rights on this computer, you also must have the internet explorer security settings to the medium level. 1. i am owner, and owner has admin rights. do i need to log back in as admin? is…

I said that I'm not going to post here anymore...but remarks as the one just above simply amaze me. Povertee asked for a pro-BitDefender opinion, for users who, instead of complaints, have something good to say about BitDefender. Finally, Pk77 came here and posted such a positive opinion and what response he gets? That he…

FINAL OBSERVATION Enough is “MUCH MORE” than enough! BitDefender has NEVER RUN PROPERLY on my new Vista Home Premium machine and I have been waiting since OCTOBER 31, 2007 for SOME KIND/ANY KIND of response from BitDefender Technical Support! It would appear that BitDefender shares the same business philosophies as a…

Cris, Go back and read my first post at the begining of this thread. I tried the Live Assistance a couple of times and beyond them sending me the link to upgrade to BD v.11 and a link for the Belarc analysis program, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY REPLY FROM THEM. I don't even know if they even looked at my analysis files! BD Tech…

Yes, I am a programmer, but I don't work for BD. Cris is a programmer as well but he's not working for BD either. Most of the people register here because they have problems. Imagine that there were 1746 members by the time I was writing this post. Imagine that only a few of them registered here because they had problems.…
