Exact same thing happened to me today as to the OP. I too reset my Qnap password etc etc. All Unnecessary! BDTS is becoming a real hassle, with Netflix, DishAnywhere and now Qnap problems.

Thanks for the update. Please post here as well, so that others can know of the fixes. Aloke.

Any progress in resolving this issue? Thx. Aloke

Why doesn't adding exception work to avoid this? I hate to disable this safety feature for all web traffic.
-
I have to disable "encrypted web scan" in BDTS to access my NAS. I have added the IP address to the whitelist, but that wasn't enough.
-
This thread says that that should fix it https://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=143526&p=685206 However, I am still getting the following errors Firefox (ver 63.0.3): An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.100. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code:…

Thanks. That works.

Is there any visual feedback or warning message on the PC that the product is no longer functional? Will the default Windows Defender start working when BDTS stops working when it expires?
-
How recently was this published? Which journal? Good stuff. I hope BD has a response to the weakness identified in Figure 3.

-
Yes, That is exactly what that screen looks like. Even with AutoPilot on.
-
Sure. But some malware (bootkits like Nemesis) do load before OS. How does BD handle those?
-
Same here. This used to work for BDTS2017 until a recent update to BDTS (I assume). No other changes.
-
Good to know. You should put out a press release on that. Not too many people know about the Box.
-
I am in the US. So, would Box have detected (and prevented?) such malware on IoT's?
-
Will Bitdefender Box still a current product? http://www.bitdefender.com/box Can I make a PC on my LAN perform some of the functions of a Box?
-
Q1. Will uninstallation of BD remove the root certificate installed by BD? Q2. Is that Technet article in my previous post a way (the only way?) to delete that certificate?
-
Will that remove the root cert authority? The concern is that IF that BD-provided root certificate gets compromised, it might allow malware to become a malicious man in the middle.
-
To clarify: I want to remove BD's root certification authority. Is this what I should do? https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb687365.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 or is there a cleaner way of doing this?
-
Are there any changes/improvements (compared to the 2016 version) to the detection/removal capability of the 2017 product? Or is the 2017 version providing a different user interface to the same underlying capabilities?
-
An update to BD with this fix was promised back in February 2016. You can verify that BDTS is still allowing sites with revoked certificates by going to this test site: https://revoked.grc.com Visit this in IE or Chrome. You won't see a "revoked certificate" warning. Aloke
-
No one else concerned about giving BD root certificate authority? Allowing them to be "man in the middle"? I'm not implying that BD is up to any mischief.. but what if they get compromised?
-
bdtl.dll failed ... LOL you can do this to resolve any bug from bdtl.dll : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=239005 What does this have to do with my question?
-
I don't have any answers, although I have the same questions! These settings are very poorly documented. BD should add a KB page explaining the functions and ramifications for each of the Firewall settings. And also why BD's firewall is better (is it?) than the one that comes with Windows 7/10.
-
I have that version now. Thanks.
-
I got 20.0.19.1099 when I updated just now.
-
I would like to hear from BD's tech folks if this issue with build updates will get fixed. I don't HAVE TO have the latest versions, but it would be nice to not get stuck on this version forever ... Aloke

Answering my own question: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=59503
-
It is there now: http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/total-security.html Will people w BDTS2015 and current 1 or 2 license get BDTS2016? Will it be through the automatic update process? Or should I download BDTS2016 trial ver, install it and enter my license code?
