  • Hello Ron, The Trojan.Generic.179662 signature was a False Positive and was remove from the product a very long time ago. Please update BitDefender to it's current database and engine version and let us know if the problem persists. Cris. Thanks. Yes, and the "Windows XP (KB908531)" is an old Windows fix that I had…
  • I have tried to install this twice, and each time I get the message: The following updates were not installed: bitdefender Security Update for Windows XP (KB908531) During the update I get a message from BitDefender about blocking a virus - Trojan.Generic.179662 in…
  • Hello Ron, Find the file, put it in an archive with the password infected, upload it somewhere and send me the download link by PM. Details about password-protection and where you can upload the archive are in my signature. You might need to temporarily disable BitDefender to gain access to that file. Cris. Thanks. But…
  • Hello ronchicago, We're glad to hear that the patch managed to resolve the scan issue. Thanks for the feedback! Maybe this will help in debugging the issue - I did two things in the past few days that I had never done before: 1. Ran quickscan beta while the normal Deep Scan was running 2. Paused and then cancelled a deep…
  • Hello Teddy, josh hardy, page, frederikfh and troppmann, You have all been sent troubleshooting steps by e-mail - please reply to the message when you have the time. In case you did not receive the e-mail please let me know. @ronchicago Please use the second set of patches from this article. Thank you! Diane, I ran that…
  • Seems I have been lucky but now I have the same problem as many others. "Scan failed to execute" immediate message on any scan I try. Followed a few minutes later by "The scanning process was not started in the required time interval. Press OK to close the BitDefender Antivirus scanner". I use XP SP2. BD Internet Security…
  • Hi on IE, go to view-toolbars, see if BD toolbar is enabled there. Hemanth Thanks. I did not find it under Tools/Toolbars - the only ones were Favourites,History,Feeds,ExplorerBar,Links,StatusBar,,LockTheToolbars,Customize Tools/ManageAddOns had it under "AddOns currently Loaded in IE" It was listed as "BitDefender…
  • So is it a false positive that I need not worry about?
  • I see the same thing. It's a valid TurboTax 2007 file. Looks like there's an overzealous heuristic . Let's hope they fix it soon. I hope it is just overzealous. It found a similar one in my 2003 TurboTax file as well - ttxctbti.exe
  • Any news on this? Every morning I see the same 193 rootkits. But no reply ever from anyone in BitDefender I received a reply from BitDefender support: "The RRUbackups folder is actually a hidden folder which is part of the IBM Rescue & Recovery Utility (RRU) and is created by the BIOS. The contents of this folder are…
  • (Sorry if this is a duplicate -my network connection broke during the prior post of it) I have had this issue for weeks and have an unanswered prior post about it. Also an open incident with support who refuse to reply to my repeated e-mails asking for status. On my SP2 system,an attempt to add RRbackups puts BitDefender…
  • For GMail, you use IMAP. The IMAP protocol makes it impossible for realtime antimalware/antispam/whatever filtering, because the message headers are downloaded automatically, and message bodies are downloaded on-demand, later (at user's choice). Because of this, filtering cannot be made based on the headers alone (they…
  • Every time a scan runs, BD complains that it can't scan hundreds of files in C:\RRbackups (I think they are encrypted by Lenovo). These messages distract from real problems and the directory needs to be added to the exclusion list, however BD won't allow me to add it. Is there a fix for this or some other way to tell BD to…
  • Hello ronchicago, Would it be possible for you to upload some screenshots detailing the contradictory information that you have found in BitDefender concerning Antispam? We just want to make sure that we correctly understand the issue before posting a reply. Thank you! OK, here it is…
  • Hello, I found out myself that's the scenario that update will fail but another solution is to schedule a scan task and choose to "minimize to tray", that way update will continue after scan task finished. Hope it helps. I tried that last night and it did NOT work on my system (SP2). The scan completed at 7:06am but the…
  • The BitDefender Antispam engines scan only ports 25 and 110 - we do not offer Antispam protection for Yahoo webmail because the e-mails are hosted on the provider's server, but you have an antispam filter embedded in the webmail interface and you can use that to configure antispam settings for your account. Thanks. Can you…
  • Do you use yahoo's webmail interface or did you set up your account in an e-mail client? If you set it up in an e-mail client please tell me which ports do you use for incoming messages? I use the yahoo webmail interface - so I assume BD cannot get to it? But I also don't get all the contradictory messages about antispam…
  • "I really see no point in wasting energy keeping a computer turned on for no reason. Do you have any idea how much energy it consumes?" This is probably not a good place to debate this but I did look at electrical costs of leaving my laptop on and it is "small". What is "small?" Depends on what the electricity supplier…
  • Hello Invalid_key_queen and Ron, This behavior is by design and it's not a bug. As you can see in BD's interface (also in the screenshot posted in the first post here), under the User tasks category, that task is showed as "Status: Scanning". An update cannot take place without stopping any running scans and that is why…
  • I think I have had the same experience. I have a scheduled scan running now and updates are showing "update error" because an "Update Setting" states "Don't update if scan in progress". I will wait till scan ends and see if updates automatically resume.
  • Looks like the same for me. I just did an update and now the scans have vanished from Advanced view. See the attachment showing BD screen /applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=5055" data-fileid="5055" rel="">ScansVanished.doc
  • Yup I got the same message too. And immediately after that my bitdefender deleted nssutil3.dll. I were reading that message on mozilla thunderbird. Can I get some explanations about the event? Should I reinstall thunderbird? I just searched for nssutil3.dll on my hard drive and found it still there. Date March 29 2009.…
  • Hmm. I didn't have anything with popups like you experienced. Or messages about a "running state." Your messages are different from mine - we are probably not running the same package but like most companies, the underlying engines are very similar. But the idea of being unprotected for 60 minutes makes sense perhaps if…
  • Well said !, Its a point that the "big" Stores overhere dont even sell Bitdefender anymore I have used BDefender for Years but since 2008/2009 They lost it , Why ?, Dont know ,maybe change in personal ...... Good news and bad news for me. (SP2, Lenovo T60) 1. Good news. I have the BSoD issue that always happened when a…
  • Sounds like a plan oot A few hours ago Ihad another one of those - when BD goes away and Windows telss me I am unprotected. Restarting BD produces a screen saying that I need to fix two issues. But clicking on "Fix" does nothing. So have to reboot. So why would I leave my system open to anyone coming in if BD goes away…
  • I'll create a ticket in our support database and send you a request there for the minidump there. Please reply to it whenever you have the time. Thanks. I sent the dump plus the output from Quickscan
  • I uninstalled Google Desktop Search, and did NOT reinstall it.But I just had another BSoD with the same same symptom - "Page Fault In Nonpaged Area". I run SP2 on a Lenovo T60. Attached is the minidump as requested by Diane Bele First attempt at uploading - "Error Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload this type of…
  • Anyone from BitDefender looking at the forum? trish and I have been waiting for weeks.
  • IS ANYONE FROM BITDEFENDER LOOKING AT THESE FORUMS? This posting about RRbackups, from at least two of us, has been around for weeks. Opening incidents with support seems to get even less notice.
  • I had a similar problem (system: Windows XP SP3, NTFS). I noticed that Bitdefender 2009 always produced a Bluescreen while scanning the encrypted index files of Google Desktop Search (GDS). So I uninstalled GDS and deleted the GDS-index. Then I installed GDS again an let it build a new index of my data - but this time…
