I ask, because both of the things you mention are workarounds, not fixes. Thanks That's correct. But to clarify: I have T'bird on multiple computers, but the crash on opening only happened on a…

This the number 4 crash for THunderbird 68 tracked at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1591787 and so it is an urgent support issue that…
  • Alex, I sent the log, as requested, on Nov. 15, but have not received a reply yet.
  • For what it's worth, with the 1909 18363.476, applied yesterday (11/14) I am not seeing this problem. BDAV is at 24.0.12.70. I did not have any previous version of 1909.
  • No, I don't have a POP3 account, nor do I want one. And I don't see where this is a Antispam issue. To repeat: 1. thunderbird.exe is now seen by BDAV as a Threat, and crashes when it tries to open, although BD does not give any notification of a threat being blocked. I only found out by turning things off one at a time.…
  • JeffJeff, Just FYI, I have a ticket open on this problem since June 6, and it is being worked on. Hoping for a fix soon, as I am unable to do remote maintenance on several systems where I don't have the option to work on locally. Chris
  • I can also confirm that it's fixed - tested before & after with an external HD on 5 computers, Win7 & Win10.
  • 12 minutes ago, svenohrberg said: I have now uninstalled Bitdefender choosing "Reinstall" in the wizard. After some time it wanted to reboot, and it has now. But it is NOT beginning to reinstall BitDefender ??!!?? There is NO on-screen steps to reinstall Bitdefender. This is going south quite quickly! So I guess that I…
  • Ok, I'll throw in my 2 cents here. I maintain & monitor about 26 computers, all running Windows7 Pro and BD Antivirus+., most of which have received & installed the 23.0.14.61 build in the last 36 hours. Since Sergiu posted about 12 hours ago (as I write this) that they are still working on it, I think it's safe to say…
  • Update - scheduled task was created by v.18. V.18 was subsequently removed & replaced by v.19. The task apparently was not deleted by the uninstall process. I just now did a test install ov v.19 on a machine that did not have any BD product previously, and no scheduled task was installed. This thread can be deleted.
  • Bumping this up, since it's still not fixed. I have now installed it on a completely new machine (XP-pro sp3). I find it hard to believe that only one other person has seen the problem (of if they have, are just ignoring it). I'm just leaving it set to 'disabled' for my own use, but I feel, if the feature is there, it…
  • I have this problem as well! It's been going on for many months. I've tried all the above suggestions and the problem still remains. Nice to know it's not just me.
  • Sorry, I don't happen to have an OEM disc - I used IBM's factory recovery discs, from which I made the image). And, considering that BDAV2013 is working ok other than this one feature, I'm confident that another clean install isn't going to make any difference. It failed on the original Windows load, and now on this fresh…
  • Sorry, ONT, but all you're telling me to do is reinstall Windows from an OEM disc (which I don't happen to have - I used IBM's factory recovery discs, from which I made the image). And, all things considered, the only variable here is which version of BDAV - 2012 vs 2013. Each was installed on a fresh copy of the image.…
  • OK, I've just completed another test, which hopefully will answer your question. My system: IBM Netvista 8305, P4 3.06gb cpu, 1gb ram, Windows XP Pro w/sp3. This machine has been running BDAV2012 since May 2012. Using a spare, clean, 40g harddrive, I restored a "starter" image (image was previously created from a 'clean'…
  • Removed BDAV2013 using the uninstall tool, cleaned the registry using Ccleaner & Easycleaner, followed by manually scanning the registry & removing what those processes missed (a lot - mostly from bdav2011). Disabled the internet connection & reinstalled using the offline installer, as suggested. Same results!! Side…
  • Well, I removed BDAV2013 using the proper uninstall tool. Cleaned, scrubbed & scoured the registry, temp files, cache, cookies, & anything else I could think of, then reinstalled BDAV2013, tweaked the "ask Every Time" setting, but it STILL DOES NOT ASK. It just goes ahead & scans. Tried USB flash drive, CD, and mapped…
  • Prior to installing BDAV2013 I removed BDAV2012 using the uninstall tool, followed by running ccleaner to clean the registry. I have already 'repaired' BDAV2013 as previously suggested, but problem remains. I'll try another remove/clean/reinstall over the weekend & see what happens.
  • Bumping this up due to lack of response.
  • Repair Bitdefender. Well that's not really logical, considering that I just installed the bloody thing!!! But I did it anyway, just so I could say I did, and it did NOT fix it.
  • Uploaded to sendspace & PM sent with this link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ldng6e
  • Marius, Problem recurred. What's the best way to send you the log file? Chris
  • Build 1530 installed a couple of days ago appears to have fixed the problem.
  • I've forwarded the information to our Dev Team, but I don't know if it will be approved(regarding Bitdefender Antivirus installer forcing users to uninstall ZA Free). Any news from the developers on this issue?
  • Last occurrence was Dec 21, on both machines. Don't know the date of the previous occurrence, but it was the same on both machines. And, no, I don't share the updates between machines. The log file that I tried to upload was a 1 meg zip file, created by your tool. The PM screen (and the screen I'm currently typing on)…
  • Hi Chris In the current situation, I recommend you to simply repair the product. You have some upd files that need to be replaced during the startup. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=31145 Being that this is my test system, BDAV2012 was reinstalled at least once in between occurrences of the problem, so I…
  • Thanks Christian. Since Picasa doesn't need to be checked that often, I'll just let BDAV do all of its updates the normal way. I can keep track of Picasa's needs on my primary system which has BDAV2009. Can you post back here when the problem is fixed? Thanks, Chris

  • Trying to send the log file, as requested, but after appearing to be uploading it, it says: "Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload this type of file". It's a zip file, approx. 1m in size. Anyway, I'm not sure how much value it would be, considering that the error scenario does not currently exist.
  • OK, with the bdtl file renamed and thus out of the picture, Picasa's "check for updates" works every time. By displaying that file's properties, I saw that it's the "Http Traffic Scanner" (or at least part of it), so after renaming it back to normal & restarting, just as a test, I went back to settings and unchecked "Scan…
