Can bitdefender dealing with a threat freeze a taskbar?

Hi, were specific question here but I have something that won't let me sleep in peace. Few days ago I was normally on my pc. I had browser and game called valorant running and some background apps. What happened to me out of nowhere was when I alt tab from game to desktop I noticed my taskbar being "frozen". That mean't I couldn't properly click on icons on the task bar and when I click let's say on google chrome my file explorer opened. When I clicked od discord my steam would open. I was really scared by this situation and it all ended out of nowhere after few minutes. My game crashed and some minutes later I got notification from bitdefender that a threat is being treated and that I should wait. Then when it was finished it was actually my wallpaper app offiicialy bought on steam and I contacted the developers and many people had same issue bitdefender detecting the wallpaper apps exe as malicious. Can this be connected together? Is it possible for bitdefender doing some scans or the virus treating cauze the freeze of my taskbar? or any other way to find out what could cause it? Thank you sm for future answers.

  • Hello @tokuhavo,

I think it's possible that Bitdefender's actions caused the taskbar issue. When antivirus software scans or treats threats, it can sometimes interfere with system processes and cause temporary glitches. By this I mean it might have been using significant system resources to scan and treat the threat, causing the taskbar to become unresponsive. If Bitdefender was interacting with system files or processes, it might have caused conflicts or temporary misbehaviors in the taskbar or other applications. Since the wallpaper app was presumably falsely detected as malicious, Bitdefender's actions to quarantine or scan it might have caused instability in the system until the threat was fully treated.

If the issue persists, you might want to consider to exclude certain trusted applications from scans, or reaching out to Bitdefender support for further assistance. To set exceptions visit this link:
