Unable to add an Exception via Advanced Threat Defense.

The button to allow you to Manage Exceptions from the Online Threat Prevention menu as per the screen grabs below is greyed out for me. I would like to be able to add a website to the whitelist which has an expired security certificate. I know that the site in question is Trusted as it is has been regularly used without any issues.

How do I go about getting the +Add an Exception box enabled.

    Hi @NicW24

I checked my versions of AV Plus and Total Security, just in case, but they're both showing the Add an Exception button as active. And in going through the Antivirus path (Settings) to Exceptions, just brings you to the same settings, so that wouldn't matter. And your Dashboard shows a Green checkmark, so that should be fine as well.

In this case, I would run a Repair and see if that restores the setting.

Also, after that is completed, and hopefully resolves the issue, you can disable the "Offer available" notice at the top of the UI by going to left side of the Dashboard/Settings and disable Special offers and Recommendation notifications.

Post back if it didn't work.

    Kind regards

  • To add to this, if you are opening a website and Bitdefender is blocking it, you can check the link below to add it to exclusions.

  • @Scott @Flexx Thanks for your respective replies. I have managed to solve it now. Bitdefender is used as anti virus protection to cover a small number of laptop devices for my wife's company and I was using my wife's window's profile to access Bitdefender and try to add the exception. What I had failed to appreciate is that this capability is only available from my account (I guess some sort of admin/master user set up). Using my own Windows Profile it works fine.

    Have a great day.

Thank you for your follow-up, as that scenario didn't occur to me as far as a possible cause.

    Cheers :)
