Bitdefender Antivirus Pro 2011 Won't Update
just installed this - the first time both updates and virus protection would not turn on.
re-installed and this time the updates don't work. in dashboard menu update section is greyed out so can't select anything, attempts to "fix" result in a failed status. Also attempts to use the support tool also failed as it just stops halfway through every time.

NOTE: the file called "bdinstall.bin" from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (for Windows XP) or C:\Users\All Users (for Windows Vista or 7)
Please follow the steps below in order to be able to see that folder:

Thanks for the reply, actually after uninstalling/reinstalling various times I returned the antivirus pro and upgraded to total security 2010 which installed first time with no problems at all. I had the total security 2009 before this and never had a problem, so when it ran out, I should have just went with the TS2010 instead of messing around with the antivirus pro which was really full of bugs for me.

I do believe that the issue was caused by an incorrect uninstall/reinstall cause of orphan files still stored in your PC. I would also recommend you upgrading to the 2011 version of BitDefender Total Security. You can find details about how to correctly upgrade in the article below:

Considering the fact that the issue was resolved this topic is now closed.
