Bitdefender And Mouse Not Working

Hi,

After recently attempting to install bitdefender 2011, it started doing its system scan before installing, said everything was fine, but needed to reboot.

After rebooting, the mouse stopped working entirely, and now the system is moaning about can't find "SMBus Driver". Tried to do a system restore but that just hangs with a white screen.

I should add that the system is Windows XP, and previously had Kaspersky, which was uninstalled beforehand.

Does anyone know what the problem could be and how to resolve?

Thanks.

  • Hello, Greg. When you uninstalled Kaspersky, did you use their uninstall tool? What brand mouse is it? Does the mouse use supplied Microsoft mouse drivers, or did you install a custom mouse program?

Is your WinXP at SP3 with all current Microsoft critical updates?

Which BD 2011 product are you using - Antivirus, Internet Security or Total Security?

    I would suggest these steps:

    1. Use the BD uninstall tool which you can download from HERE to remove the current BD installation.

    2. Use the official Kaspersky uninstall tool which you can download from HERE to make sure Kaspersky was completely removed.

    3. Verify that your mouse is now working properly. If not, re-install those drivers following the manufacturer's instructions.

    4. Re-install BD.

Let us know if the problem is resolved.
