Vista Security Alert Conflicts With Bitdefender Status

Windows Vista is giving me a security alert which indicates that "bitdefender reports the firewall is turned off", same thing for malware protection. However, when I open bitdefender, it shows no issues. When I try to turn the firewall and/or malware protection "on" via the windows security alert, I get no change - nothing happens.


I'm fairly certain this security alert is legit... not one of those fake malware security alerts (though, could be, I suppose)... When I run this from the control panel, I get the same message, which makes me think it is legit.


Any suggestions? What's going on?
