Possible Conflict Between Bdis2011 And Easy Cd-da Extractor
Hello, I'm writing to report that there appears to be a possible conflict between Easy CD-DA Extractor (www.poikosoft.com) and BitDefender Internet Security 2011. A discussion of this problem can be found at (http://www.poikosoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2244). Attempting to launch the program results in a "privileged instruction" error. Has anyone else had this problem? In the aforementioned discussion, the author of the program states that he has contacted BitDefender. Has the BitDefender company replied?

ChrisCC - Since you can reproduce the error, it might help for you to run the BD SupportTool and submit the log files generated to DanyDan of BD tech support for evaluation. Please follow the procedure below to create and upload those log files:
1. First please unplug the Internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adaptor if you are using one. This prevents the supporttools files from being automatically uploaded.
2. Click on Start and then choose My Computer/Computer.
3. Browse to:
C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011
- considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition
4. Double-click on the supporttool.exe file - if you are using Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the supporttool application file and select Run as Administrator
5. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish
6. A file will be created on your desktop. Please move it to a location of your choice (i.e. move it on your c:\ drive)
7. Reconnect your internet cable (only after you have moved the file to the new location)
8. Upload the created file HERE
9. Include a detailed description of the issue you are encountering and a screenshot of the error message, if there is one.
10. Send a PM (Private Message) with the download link to DanyDan of tech support. Include a link to this topic and give him as much detail as possible about your PC - exact symptoms, hardware (CPU type/speed, Memory installed, etc.), OS and version, 32-bit or 64-bit, any other security software installed or previously uninstalled. Any other relevant configuration information.
It may take several days for them to analyze the files and respond depending on their workload, so please be patient.

Hello,
Please provide me with a link from where I can download the software in question. Can be used as Freeware or it's a must to be purchased ? Any trial period ?
What Operating System are you using ? Try to disable the following modules and features, 1 by 1, to see if any of them will resolve the issue you encounter:
- open BitDefender Security Center and go to Antivirus tab: click on Advanced Settings. There disable AVC and IDS then check to see if the issue persist.
- go to the Firewall tab: disable the module for 5 minutes and check if the issue persist;
- go to Antivirus tab and disable Real Time Protection; check to see if the issue is resolved.
Send me the results of the above tests along with the log Nikki asked you to generate.0 -
Tests performed and info provided. Please let me know if you'd like any more from me, and perhaps others monitoring this post will participate if requested.

Just thought I would let everyone who might look at this know that, upon uninstalling BDIS 2011, this application worked properly. I then installed BDIS 2010 and the product continued to work properly. I thank BitDefender for making older versions available at the link below:
I was able to install BitDefender Internet Security 2010 by downloading all of the files at the link below into one folder on my hard drive and running the "setup.exe". There's a single, larger file in the parent directory, but that didn't work for me.

My apologies to the BitDefender Team, as it appears I have missed, and consequently violated a posting rule:
"4.
When posting a reply on a topic try to keep the suggestion within a relevant range – for example, when there is a post concerning an error message in BitDefender 2009 do not recommend downgrading to BitDefender 2008 for this suggestion does not address the original issue. Multiple posting of this type will lead to an increase of the warn level with 20%."
It would seem I may go from "Newbie" to "Banned Newbie". Sorry again. I thought I was helping users, but it is true that my posting does not help resolve the original issue.0
