Automatic Update Fail

removed bd internet sec 09


installed (from disk) bd total security 2011, on packard bell - ms vista home premium sp2


after installation, registration/key all ok


scan run - ok, no items


the update module however remains grey, non accessible and the 'solve open items' always fail and update is not performed.


in the preferences, the 'automatic update' when applied, is after some minutes always overruled by the software and always put on 'off'


is this a known issue? if yes, pls fwd me to the topic, otherwise, thanks for reply

    Tip:


    1 and only 1 firewall,


    1 and only one antivirus


    1 antispyware.


    Windows firewall should be deactivated.


    Check that first. (with brand computers such as Packard Bell or else, we have some other antimalware that should be deinstalled, even if your old BD antivirus 2009 could work.)


    Besides you have to fully deinstall the old BD version before installing the new one. Maybe some old files are still on the system?

    all s######estions were done prior to install BD TS 2011


    Windows firewall is out, no other virus/spyware scanners are anymore on system; BD IS 2009 was removed with all remnants


    currently i face 'grey' screen on the all update tabs as well as the issue resolution which fails


    any other s######estions?

    There is an uninstall tool available from the BitDefender Support Site, run that and make sure its compatible with 2011 products. It will remove all bitdefender products from the computer so there is no trace what so ever. Once that tool is run and the pc is restarted, run a tune up utility like CCleaner, and then install BitDefender.

    That is correct, indeed a reinstall using the Uninstall tool + a registry cleaner after the PC has restarted should resolve the Update module unavailable issue you encounter.
