Bdis And Vvserve.exe Memory Usage In Win 7 64 Bit

This is apparently not an unusual problem but so far I haven't been able to find a "public" answer in the forums ? Attached are 2 memory snapshots....one for Task Manager and the other for Resource Manager.

Both seem to show ALOT of memory usage/reserve/hogging although I no longer have the infuriating slow downs I experienced with 2010 as in this open thread: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...&hl=vvserve

This commit usage is normal when running the PC

Is there any way to reduce the commit/reserved memory usage of Vvserv.exe in Win 7 64 bit & BDIS 2011 ?

Thanks....Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Considering the fact that VSSERV is pretty much responsible for all communications made between all BitDefender modules, I find that the commit size you show in the screenshot normal. A normal instance of Firefox is using normally about 100-120KB as you can also see from my screenshot.

Furthermore I can point you to the following article to understand the priority of the columns in Task Manager:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commit_charge

What you should look after is the CPU usage and the Threads counted for VSSERV, not the Commit size. That column should not even be displayed in Task Manager.

As a conclusion you have nothing to worry about, VSSERV , as far as I can see from the attached screens, is working normally.
