Ok Guys Stop The Spam On Your Popups! What Is Wrong With You People?
OK Guys, I buy your product to protect me from spam and pop-ups (as well as the other things), but yet I get a pop-up from YOUR SOFTWARE for a BMW giveaway promotion. " />
This is downright malware, and downright SPAM! " />
How dare a company who is supposed to sell a security product to us have a way to put SPAM messages directly on my desktop. " />
Not to mention that it killed my full-screen application at the time, and I LOST the work I had been doing. " />
THIS IS EVIL! STOP THIS NOW! " />

I received them too " />
Several in 1 Week !
They would better spend the money improving Bdefender , hiring more competent People ! , instead of
Spending it on BMW , LAPTOPS, SMARTPHONES and other prizes !
But hey now we know where our money has gone..............
Ridiculous.
With regards.
ps bet this topic gets closed / deleted too , just like others when the Truth is told.0 -
Just loaded Total Security on my wife's computer and I saw the same thing but it seemed to be coming via Facebook which she does use. If it is in fact coming from BitDefender it needs to stop as this is the kind of thing that gets software removed immediately and permanently.

Nope not Facebook, I never touch that site.0 -
Nope not Facebook, I never touch that site.
I don't recall the exact URL but it ended with something like facebook/bitdefender. Not what I expect to see AFTER installing BitDefender if you know what I mean.0 -
Hello all,
In order to disable the mentioned pop-ups, the BitDefender News option must be disabled.
-for BitDefender 2009/2010 users:
Open BitDefender in Advanced/Expert Mode, then go to General-> Settings and disable BitDefender News.
-for BitDefender 2011 users:
Select the Options button from the top-right corner of the BitDefender window -> Preferences -> General Settings tab -> disable the BitDefender News option (OFF)
Regarding your comments, I have gathered the feedback and informed the concerned team.0 -
Hi George R.:
with regards to your advice to turn off "News" option in BIS 2010 - The box ticked on says "News - security related notifications" :
George, can you tell me how an advert for BMW is a "security related notification" !!
BD should ONLY be using the "News" to tell us of a virus outbreak, not for your profits by trying to sell us products.
I Have NEWVER seen a security-related notification from BD, so why not?
Anyway, I have disabled News notification, because BD are only using it for adverts.
I can not beleive that my own security product (BIS 2010) is spaming me !! Thanks to the original poster for raising this issue.Hello all,

Something's really suspicious about this. When the popup came up I just closed it. When I manually typed in the address facebook.com\bitdefender the screen looks like one of those phishing sites. And the "enter now" buttons all go to weird non-facebook or BD websites.
BitDefender, please fix because it's making it appear I have malware or keyloggers on my system.
Now I cannot even open the BD dashboard. Very suspicious indeed. Is the popup really from BD?0 -
Between the pop-ups, the intermittent performance slow-downs and the inability to remember if my wireless network is private or public, I'm done with this for now. Back to MSE.

I'm so disgusted with the BMW popup from BD!!! I got it twice yesterday and figured it was a phishing thing, then did a search and found out that it was actually from BD. What the heck?
Orca9999 couldn't have said it better - how dare they, it's akin to malware and spam.
When my subscription ends, no more BD for me.0 -
I've been a BD user for years, BD has been the best AV software I've ever had but I am sorely tempted to dump the product over this. I get adverts everytime I fire up the PC or laptop offering discounts if I upgrade my BD early.
Stop this unwanted and intrusive invasion of my privacy!0 -
Hi Steep.
Could please take a screenshot of that pop-up?
Also, please note that you can upgrade for free to Bitdefender 2012.
