Antivirus File For Statusbar Download Manager

I use Minefield a Firefox Beta and StatusBar a Firefox extension that has a provision for immediate antivirus scanning of downloaded files while still in the download manage cache. I want to know which is the proper file to use like some antovirus have Quickscan for just such an instance. So far I have found odscanui.exe and odsw.exe discriptions BitDefender antivirus scanner but I'm not sure which one to use if either.

Please if someone knows let Me know which is the right file to use.

Thank You Very Much

Very Sincerely

  • @CatBurgler Firefox already scans all downloaded files for virus as standard, and Bitdefender scans them automatically too for an extra layer of security, you don't need to run a separate process like Quickscan.

    Does this answer your question?

  • Hello CatBurgler,

As Chimel already posted, your PC is already protected with few layers of security therefore I do find the Firefox extension useless while having a security solution installed.

To stay on the safe side you can always right click on the saved file and select "Scan with BitDefender" before opening the file you downloaded.

If you have any further queries don't hesitate to contact us anytime!

    Best regards,

P.S. Thanks Chimel for your help :)

No it does not exactly answer My question ,

    though thanks for the reply.

I would just the same still like to know

which file if any in BitDefender Total Security

would function in the same manner as QuickScan,

I thinks QuickScan was in Outpost or Norton.

I prefer BitsDefender though and I do like to

be able to scan a downloaded file in Minefield

a Firefox Beta just for peace of mind. When

things on the net get dicey I like to use Firefox-Minefield

with NoScript as an added security measure.

I program a little in Java and it is much more secure than

    JavaScript.

So Please if You or someone does know which file will perform

such a security scan in Firefox-MineField-StatusBar cache,

    Please let Me know.

    Thanks

Well the point is that you don't have to scan downloaded files manually anymore.

They are already scanned automatically by both Firefox and BitDefender, scanning them for a third time is overkill.

The closest equivalent to QuickScan is odscanui.exe, it is the solution mentioned by Daniel (Scan with Bitdefender.)

The selection of the file or folder to scan is made in Windows Explorer, the scanner contains the bare minimum UI.

  • Hi

All the downloaded files are scanned by Bitdefender in realtime.

There's no need for other scanners.

    Thank you.
