[resolved]Explorer Stops Functioning Properly When I Install Bitdefender
After I installed BitDefender and restarted my computer, when I logged on, my desktop did not load and I got the following error message:
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).Click on OK to terminate the application.
When I uninstalled the program the problem was fixed.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

4. The result will be the file called 'SYSDUMP.TAR'

I recently replaced my Hard-Drive so have been installing a lot of software. I previously had BitDefender Antivirus 2009 or 2010 installed and there were no problems.
Immediately after I install BitDefender I repeatedly get the following error message in regards to Numerous applications:
________ has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
The applications are:
-Control Panel
-Notepad
-NVIDIA UPdate COM
-WMI provider Host
-Extension CLSID
-Microsoft Windows Search Protocol
Then when I restart my computer and log on, the desktop does not load and I am left with a blank screen and the following error message:The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).Click on OK to terminate the application.
I am able to log on in safe-mode.0 -
Hello,
At a first look I would say you have some issues with the .NET framework package. The error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) is associated with memory faults.
Check if the following registry value exists on your system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon LeakTrack REGDWORD = 1
Also I noticed that you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. One of the mandatory system requirements is to have at least Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed.
Next I have found the following security solutions installed on the same PC:
- COMODO Internet Security
- Microsoft Antimalware (part of Microsoft Essentials);
You will have to uninstall these 2 software as using multiple security solution will compromise your PC performance.
To learn how to upgrade your Windows to the latest service pack visit the Microsoft article below:

The destination "C:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" does not exist
I'm using windows vista Home Premium service pack 2.
"COMODO Internet Security" is a firewall and BitDefender is an AntiVirus, so they shouldn't interfere, right?
When I installed BitDefender (before uninstalling it) I did not have "Microsoft Security Essentials" installed.0 -

When you say "'C:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' does not exist," it sounds like you are looking for a folder on your C:\ drive. If you re-read DanyDan's post, he states "registry value." HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is a Windows Registry key, not a folder on your hard drive.

Thanks Nikki605, you're right.
I found "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" in "Registry Editor", but I couldn't find "LeakTrack" anywhere.0 -
Hello,
This Comodo firewall has some antivirus features as well: Default Deny Protection™, Prevention-based security, Auto Sandbox Technology™...
Comodo's Execution Control is interfering with BD's AVC module:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=287277
Fortunately, there is a workaround: add all applications to Comodo's execution control exclusions list (it actually has this option) as explained below and the issue should be resolved:
You do this by accessing: Comodo -> Defense+ -> Advanced -> Image Execution Control Settings -> Exclusions -> Add -> Browse...
Let me know if the issue is now resolved.
