" Hi Brian,

Thank you very much for the information provided. I'd like to try out a few

things to see if we can better pinpoint the cause of the issue. It's hard to

locate the exact cause without running a few tests first, because there are

lots of possibilities.

Our starting point will be to disable some Bitdefender features to see if we

find the one responsible. Then we will check installed applications with

which that feature can interact so we can make the right adjustments and solve

this issue without losing any of BitDefender's functionality.

First you will need to bring up the Bitdefender interface.

Then:

A. Turn OFF Auto Scan (from the Antivirus column)

Go to the Settings > Antivirus > turn OFF the "Active Virus Control"

Go to Firewall > turn OFF "Intrusion Detection System"

Now rerun a Full System Scan and tell me if you still get the same error

message.

If everything is OK, please try re-enabling the above features one by one and

run a scan each time, to see which one is causing the issue.

B. If the issue persist after step A

1. at the Antivirus column select "Custom Scan" > click on "Scan Options" >

Custom > here uncheck "Scan memory", "Scan registry", "Scan boot sectors" and

"Scan for rootkits" -> click OK.

2. Click on "Add target" and add all your disk drives.

3. Click in "Start Scan" and see if it ends successful.

If it does, please re-enable the above settings to see which one is the

culprit.

Please also follow the steps below and send us the result:

a) Go to this page

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the

autoruns file.

B) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe'

file;

c) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure

that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

d) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on

your computer;

e) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random

name, which one you want) and then just attach it to the reply email and send

it to us.

Brian, we will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible

solution in the shortest time.

now i have done everything that was postred above and still cant do a scan without getting the vsserv.exe error

The scan will stop when it says 1 min remaining and toss the error, i have sent yet another email today 10/25/2011 8.20ish am

hoping to hear back form them but wanted to post on the forum also if maybe someone had my same issue
