Automatic Vulnerability Scan Turning On Automatically

I have set the 'Automatic Vulnerability Scan' under Antivirus turned OFF manually. But everytime my BitDefender conducts an update, it activates Windows update automatically.
Can anyone please tell me how this can be solved? Or if it is related to the vulnerability scan settings.
The PC facing this problem runs Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32 bit).
Interesting fact is that, I checked with other machine running Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) but that does not generate such issue.
