Virus Removal On A Mac

Options

Hello, I have a problem with bit defender removing several viruses on a mac. I ran bit defender and it found several trojan viruses They were in emails from a fake fed ex and ups accounts. They were downloaded, not by me, but saved from the mac mail program in my user library folder. When bit defender ran a scan it found these trojans and 4 of the 5 it said were deleted. I went in and manually trashed the 5 one. I don't think these did anything to my system because the files were something like fedex invoice.exe and macs don't use exe files. If I run bit defender a few days after it says no viruses found and system is safe. About two weeks later it's run again and surprise those same viruses are there again. 4 of the 5 it deletes and I manually remove the last one. same thing few days later everything safe two weeks later all are back. How can I get rid of these for good? Is there a copy of these somewhere? Could these infect the mac even though they are .exe files and never clicked to try and open?
