Bitdefender 2012 Av And Issues?

I have BitDefender 2012 AV installed on my computer and now the computer is running extremely slow and sluggish since installation.

I notice that in Task Manager, the file vsserv.exe is eating a lot of processor and also has my hard drive running constantly. In addition, I notice that surfing the internet is now very slow as it takes quite a while for pages to load up.

Is there an issue with BitDefender????

Thanks!

    Hi Coffeebean, and welcome :)

It sounds like this is a newer install, and the vsserv.exe is running it's background AutoScan of your PC, it should settle down after a day or two. You can run a System Scan to help cache your known good system files to help speed up and truncate the Auto Scan process (which will still scan opened and run files, background processes, etc.)

The web pages may open a little slower than you were used to without Bitdefender's Antiphishing/Web filter, but shouldn't be by too much.

This taken from another thread by Christian, may also help:

    Hi Chimel

Vsserv.exe is the main process from our product. It's also the process that handles the scanning processes.

It's normal to run on a machine when is used because it handles the on access scanning, the web protection, etc. Also, during the idle period Vsserv.exe starts the AutoScan process in background.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Have a nice day.
