[resolved] Cannot Remove Virus – No Access Rights

Hello;

I ran a full system virus scan using BD Antivirus Plus 2013 and one virus was discovered (Trojan.Peed.Gen) but which was ignored (not quarantined) because “user did not have proper access rights”. I am the sole user on this laptop, and have it configured so I have full admin rights.

My question: why am I not granted rights to remove the virus, even though I have full admin rights? I’m running Win 7 32 bit.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Tonia

    Hi :)

    In order to be able to assist you please run a System Scan task with Bitdefender and send us the resulting scan report.

    [how to GENERATE A FULL SYSTEM SCAN LOG from Bitdefender 2013]

    - Before running the scan please make sure that you have the latest virus definitions downloaded via the Update module.

    For this you need to right click on the white "B" icon from the system tray and select Update now.

    - After the update process has completed successfully you can proceed to running the scan task.

    In the same window go to Antivirus and press the Scan now button =>System scan.

    - After the scan has finished you need to submit the scan log file.

    This is accomplished by running the Support tool file that can be downloaded from this location:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...or_scanlogs.exe

    Save the file prior to running it and to continue you need to accept the terms of use.

    At the end of this process an archive will be created on your Desktop starting with bdamst.

    Upload that file on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

    and send me a PM with the download link.

    Have a nice day!

  • Hi Christian;

    Thanks for your reply. I managed to remove the offending file (trojan) by uninstalling the entire program in which the file was found, and a re-scan showed a clean system. I will follow your suggestion to run the support tool and send you the report if I run into the same issue in subsequent scans.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,

    Next time you can send me directly the scan log and the link to this topic and I will know what to do.

    I declare this case resolved.
