Scan Ssl Question

Hi,

I just wondered what effect the 'Scan SSL' option has on the security/privacy of my SSL connection data, if any? I notice that each site's certificate is verified by Bitdefender, and encrypted with Camellia-256. Is this as secure and private as the 'original' connection would have been?

I don't really want to disable the SSL scan option as I think its features are useful, but I'm a bit uneasy about the security. I notice that even if I whitelist a site, it is still using the modified certificate. Is there any way to prevent this?

The scan SSL feature is used to scan encrypted connections like websites that start with HTTPS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Secure

In order to do this, a local certificate is used by our product.

Regarding Camellia-256, you can read here all the details:

Also, you must know that not all websites and connection support this technology and you receive a certificate error, we recommend you to temporary turn Scan SSL, make all the operations and then turn it on.

Thanks for the update. What effect does this have on the encrypted data that is sent over the 'net? Is the data still encrypted using the original cipher?

Yes Jim, the data will remain encrypted even after turning that option off. You don;t have to worry, it won't affect the overall protection.
