Antivirus - Off Or On?

Like many others, I was having a problem with Bitdefender Antivirus being turned off and trying to start it always "failed". I tried restarting the PC, turning it off and rebooting, always with the same result. However, eventually it seemed to work, with Bitdefender showing that the PC is "currently protected".

I also carried out a full system scan to ensure that there was, hopefully, no malware or other nasties infecting the system.

However, although Bitdefender seems now to be working, the Action Centre (Windows 7) seems to think it is still turned off and is prompting me to turn it on (still showing this message even though the PC has been rebooted).

Is this a problem anyone else is having? Is it something that can be fixed by installing Bitdefender 2013?

Appreciate any help as this is not the first time the antivirus has played up and it's starting to really annoy me!

    Hi :)

I think I have a solution for your case.

As the new Bitdefender 2013 product suite was released, we would like to inform you that you benefit from a FREE upgrade to the latest version.

Apart from the fact that the 2013 suite brings lots of new features and improvements, it will most likely solve any issues that you may have encountered with your previous Bitdefender product.

    Please check out this announcement:

After you install the new version, if needed, we will continue the conversation on the new area from here:

    Thank you.

  • Thanks, Christian. I downloaded Bitdefender 2013 and that seems to have solved the problem. However, I am now finding with the new product that very often when it downloads antivirus updates it requires a reboot - this hardly ever happened with 2012. Frustrating, but as long as everything else works the way it should I can live with it!

    Hello :)

We released several products updates these says so 1 or 2 reboots are perfectly normal for your case.

    Take care.
