Email Moved To Spam Folder Had Virus Attached

I just had a look in the Deleted/Spam folder of Outlook 2010 and found 2 emails "[spam] Corporate eFax message" which had an attachment "efax-xxxxxxxetc.pdf.zip". Of course the attachment was a Trojan, but I'm surprised that the email or attachment did not get deleted when receiving it.

All traffic monitoring is enabled in the Antivirus section... looks like to me when "Spam" is detected, move to "Deleted Items" / Spam folder and don't scan..

However, someone now and then checks the Deleted/Spam folder and might open the file...

Can that be changed?

Thanks

  • Hello :)

For security reasons, the product will only mark infected emails and it will mode them to Spam/Junk.

The user has to manually delete the email.

Anyway since the malware is detected, when the user tries to open the archive, it will be blocked by the On Access Scanner.

    Thank you!
