Windows 8 64bit Upgrade Incompatible?

I recently purchased the bitdefender anti-virus 2013 - and running well on 64bit Win7.


I am planning to upgrade the OS to 64bit Windows 8, but the MS Win8 Upgrade Asst. says that bitdefender anti-virus 2013 is incompatible, but there is an update for it.


Will the update just occur automatically after I have upgraded to Windows 8, or do I have to do something manually? - and what?


Is the update free of charge (having just purchased a 2-year bit-defender licence!!)
