How Data Protection Works ?
I simulated data leak, for example by putting a plain text file with Visa like numbers and passwords in Dropbox or uploaded it via Chrome to a website. These numbers are in to Bitdefender Data protection list. Bidefender did not react. I cannot see the description of the feature in the Bitdefender Help. How Data Protection supposed to work? Give example please.

Hiya,
Did you configure your data protection? Just adding a simulated credit card number is not going to work, you need to follow these instructions -

Hiya,

Yes, as I pointed above, I have done all of that. My question is when Bitdefender Data Protection will work? So far it did not protect from leak via usual means like Chrome file upload. And from help you kindly provided, Rohugh, I can see that Bitdefender Data Protection works only on http, not https. So when http is used these days, example?0 -

As even the US government learned, there is truly no such thing as unhackable encryption. All data that gets entered in the Data Protection is encrypted. However, even Bitdefender knows this isn't foolproof. In fact, they even state this in the instructions and I quote, "For extra safety, do not enter all of the data you wish to protect". The best place to store extra sensitive data (such as credit card numbers, SSNs, personal info) is off the computer on good ole fashioned paper. That way, the only way it could be compromised is if a robber broke into your house. And if that happens, you got bigger issues than the threat of identity theft.0 -
Old thread but a question.
So I just "simulated" this. Put few numbers into a text file that matched the rule. I then tried sending this to my other email address via Outlook. It appears sent but it is never received? There are no alerts at BD either to say the rule was applied.
To confirm nothing is wrong with Outlook etc, I created another file with different numbers and sent that. As expected this went through instantly.
Question then: Should I not be getting alerted on the first instance? Obviously BD is "stopping" it.0
