Is Bitdefender Having An Identity Crisis?

It seemed like Bitdefender was dumping the labeling of their antivirus products by years. The 2014 edition, instead of being labeled "Bitdefender Internet Security 2014", was simply called "Bitdefender Internet Security" (dropping the year).

This is common among antivirus companies. For example Avira, AVG, and Kaspersky all have changed their product naming to just "[Company Name] Internet Security" while dropping the year as well. This makes sense since antivirus products are subscription based, so just auto-upgrading to the latest version without distinguishing it by "year" would be a great business model.

However, it seems Bitdefender, for whatever reason, tried it for one year then switched back. I wonder why. Are you guys having an identity crisis? <img class=" /> Why the multiple product name changes?

It's probably better for marketing purposes. There are many consumers who want the "latest and greatest" version of the software. Having that year in the title makes a difference!
