It's much easier to create rules and configure network adapters, hardware and virtual. And even if you don't pay attention to that and run with the default (automatic) settings, BD will alert to malicious network behavior far beyond that of Windows Firewall, generally speaking since you didn't deem it important enough to mention which version of Windows you're using. You might want to post that up for anyone else who might reply.
As for Internet Security and Total Security vs Antivirus Plus, Antivirus Plus does not include BD's Intrusion Detection System (IDS).
