Ransomware Protection - System Folders
Running AntiVirus Plus 2017
When I attempt to add C:\Users\JaneDoe to the list of folders protected from Ransomware, I get the error message below.
Why does AntiVirus Plus consider this a system folder?

I am guessing that Bitdefender knows that each user account folder also contains an "AppData" folder, which is considered a "system" folder. If you select to "View Hidden Files" in your Windows Explorer, you will see that folder, and its many subfolders.
Have a great day.

I cant get Appdata to show because the button to enable viewing of hidden files does not work anymore. Rick Gates had the same problem in another post and found the only way to get it to work was by uninstalling bitdefender. There apparently was an intrusion detection module that one could disable as part of earlier versions of Bitdefender that could solve this. The 2017 version does not have an intrusion module to disable. I am running Win 10 64X. I do occasionally need access to my hidden files. I do have a ticket in to r=try and resolve this.0 -
The solution, as I see it, would be to add the top level data folders for each user to the ransomware protection module; e.g., C:\Users\JaneDoe\Documents; C:\Users\JaneDoe\Music; C:\Users\JaneDoe\Pictures; and C:\Users\JaneDoe\Videos. Then just make sure that user's personal files are all in subfolders of the those primary user account data folders.

I am just guessing.
Hope this helps. Have a great day.

I should have not posted before trying a system reboot. That seems to have fixed the problem.0 -
