BD AV Plus 2017 eating memory after full scan

I'm using BD AV Plus 2017 on Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
After every full scan (once a week), I notice the response of the file explorer and my mouse/keyboard slowing down *a lot* - as in the cursor jumping or disappearing and reappearing, and actions within file explorer taking many more seconds than normal. Looking at Task Manager, Show Processes from All Users, I see that vsserve.exe is sucking up many more Mb of memory than usual and is fluctuating greatly. I have to do a restart in order for vsserve.exe to lower it's memory use and stop fluctuating.
What is going on? Can I fix this?
