Bitdefender writes a lot of data on my sdd
Hi everyone.
I am a little worried and can’t stop thinking in uninstalling bitdefender total security 2020 after knowing it writes a lot of data on my ssd (almost 690mb every time it updates to the latest virus definitions) and since I can’t change the bitdefender pushing updates I don’t know what to do.
I am wondering if there’s any solution to this problem.

Hello Jensen,
While it is true that SSDs wear out over time (each cell in a flash-memory bank can be written to and erased a limited number of times), thanks to TRIM command technology that dynamically optimizes these read/write cycles, you’re more likely to discard the system for obsolescence (after six years or so) before you start running into read/write errors with an SSD. If you’re really worried, several tools can let you know if you’re approaching the drive’s rated end of life. Eventually, hard drives will wear out from constant use, as well, since they use physical recording methods. Longevity is a wash when it’s separated from travel and ruggedness concerns. There is no option to change how much Bitdefender writes on the disk while updating. As long as it writes 690 MB only when it updates, you do not need to worry.

Yes! It is also making my PC down and also making browsing slow. So sites are loading much slowly.
